FTI Consulting Hires Michael T. Dougherty From U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Respected Forensic, Fraud and Security Expert was in the Number Two Position at the Nation's Largest Federal Law Enforcement Agency

FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN), the premier provider of corporate finance/restructuring, forensic and litigation consulting, and economic consulting, today announced that Michael T. Dougherty has joined the company's Forensic and Litigation Consulting practice as a senior managing director in its Washington D.C. office.
Mr. Dougherty joins FTI Consulting from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), where as a Bush administration appointee, he served as the Director of Operations for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). At ICE, the nation's largest federal law enforcement agency, Mr. Dougherty managed traditional law enforcement missions and counter-terrorism programs. He oversaw global customs and immigration enforcement operations, including the nation's largest financial investigative and computer forensic programs, visa security, air and marine drug interdiction, and airspace security. Additional operational oversight included protection of domestic critical infrastructure including over 8000 federal installations. Mr. Dougherty also had primary responsibility for the merger and strategic transformation of six operational entities to create a $5 billion global law enforcement and intelligence organization in ICE.
Prior to joining the DHS, Mr. Dougherty was a principal in the Forensic Services practice of KPMG, where he provided advisory services in investigations, fraud and misconduct diagnostic assessment, regulatory and ethics compliance, computer forensics and electronic discovery. He specialized in complex financial fraud, embezzlement and money laundering investigations related to enforcement actions by the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Reserve and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency as well as state bank regulatory agencies. Prior to KPMG, Mr. Dougherty spent eight years with the U.S. Department of Justice.

Mr. Dougherty has a BA in political science with concentrations in Arabic, philosophy and economics from Ohio State University.
